| "Frenzied" (2005) |
|
On stage : Four dancers, a heroine. Three musicians, a wind band, a video artist. A metallic tower covered with white screens. A movement to the other side of the tower… like Alice walking through the mirror to emerge in Wonderland. But why should the dancer take such a step? Why should he leave this Tower of Babel and ivory combined? "Frenzied" is a philosophical and choreographic narrative in five short scenes – Chaos, Light, Time, Intoxication, the Uni-Verse. It invites us to take that step, to cross over to the other side of the tower and enter another country… And while we may feel the impossibility of a wonderland, are we not free to create our own reality and meaning there? How can dance open the door to a human becoming that reveals to us the beauty and depth of meaning of potential first step that will shape the way we interact with the world? Such a revelation may perhaps help us bridge the post-modern gulf in minds teetering at the very brink of withdrawal, threatened by dereliction, cynicism and materialism.
